The elastic band holds the frame together and allows it to be hung on the wall. A traditional back panel has been omitted, giving the overall appearance a light, airy look, transparent, and, depending on the size, the contents appear to float. Dried flowers, hand-painted items, or postcards also find space between the panes and can be stylishly displayed.
