Description
Delicate peach nuances, a touch of nostalgia, and an aura that makes every garden feel calmer – "Jora Dahl – Plant Seeds Alcea rosea Queeny Salmon" brings exactly this magic. This special mallow is one of those varieties that immediately catch the eye without being loud. Soft, apricot-colored blossoms open gradually, creating a romantic, slightly playful look that fits wonderfully into natural gardens, cottage beds, or modern, subtly designed planting areas.
The Queeny Salmon variety remains more compact than classic hollyhocks. This makes it easier to integrate, less prone to toppling, and suitable for smaller gardens, patios, or along paths. With its abundant blooms, it attracts bees and butterflies, providing lively moments between greenery and flowers.
Sowing is uncomplicated: a sunny location, some patience, and regular moisture are sufficient for the seedlings to grow vigorously. This variety often blooms in its first year, transforming your bed into a harmonious play of warm salmon, cream, and delicate rosé tones.
Typically Jora Dahl, this combines botanical passion, high-quality seed, and a good sense for modern garden aesthetics. A variety for all who want to fill their garden with poetry – understated, natural, and beautiful.
Whether as a solitaire, in groups, or as a soft transition between perennials: Alcea rosea Queeny Salmon is a plant that delights anew every year.

Sowing & Caring for Hollyhocks
For a good start, it's best to begin sowing between March and April in small seed trays. A warm environment of around 18°C helps the seeds germinate. Once the first seedlings are visible, they prefer it a little cooler – about 15°C and a bright spot are perfectly sufficient.
As soon as spring is consistently warm and there's no longer a risk of frost, the young plants can be moved outdoors. A full sun location allows hollyhocks to thrive particularly well, especially in loose, well-draining soil. With some regular fertilization, they develop more flowers and stay healthier. It's best to remove spent flower stalks immediately so that the plant puts its energy into new blooms.
In winter, hollyhocks appreciate light protection, such as leaves or brushwood. Alternatively, you can sow the seeds directly outdoors or in pots in autumn – then the flowers usually appear the following summer.
Cutting Hollyhocks & Using Them for a Vase
For a beautiful vase, it's best to choose flowers that have fully opened. This works particularly well during the main blooming season in summer. With sharp garden shears, cut the stem below the last flower and remove the leaves so that nothing hangs in the water.
A little trick to keep the flowers fresh longer: Place the stems in hot water immediately after cutting. This keeps them stable and prevents them from wilting as quickly.
