Sowing & Caring for Hollyhocks
For a good start, it's best to begin sowing between March and April in small seed trays. A warm environment of around 18°C helps the seeds germinate. Once the first seedlings are visible, they prefer it a little cooler – about 15°C and a bright spot are perfectly sufficient.

As soon as spring is consistently warm and there's no longer a risk of frost, the young plants can be moved outdoors. A full sun location allows hollyhocks to thrive particularly well, especially in loose, well-draining soil. With some regular fertilization, they develop more flowers and stay healthier.
