Sowing & caring for foxtail
Indoors, sow between February and April. Cover the seeds lightly with soil, keeping the soil warm and moist. Plant as soon as the risk of frost has passed. Can also be sown directly into the garden bed in late spring. Amaranthus is easy to cultivate and a good choice for novice gardeners.

Harvesting foxtail and cutting it for the vase
Cut when about three-quarters of the flowers on the stem are open. Remove most of the foliage to better expose the green panicles. It will last 7 to 10 days. It can also be cut while in full bloom for a dried bouquet.
